Dr. Hurst was born and raised right here in Nacogdoches. He went to Nacogdoches High School and from there went on to attend Baylor University. He went to medical school at the University of Texas  in Galveston, which is where he met his wife Kristen. He did a residency in Orthopedic surgery at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, where he picked up a love for The Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team. 

After spending a few years working out of the state, Dr Hurst and his wife decided to come back home and Piney Woods Orthopedics was started in July of 2017. He is happy to be home amongst friends and family.

When he is not working, Dr Hurst loves spending time with his wife and kids. He loves old cars and enjoys cooking.
